Guidelines for Educators:

Dear Fellow Educators,

This WebQuest is designed to engage 7th-grade ESL students in creating a travel brochure about Puerto Rico while developing their research, writing, and language skills. The project aligns with the Puerto Rico Core Standards for English as a Second Language and incorporates structured language development activities.

Implementation Tips:

  • Allow 2-3 weeks for completion, with approximately 45-60 minutes per session

  • Pre-teach vocabulary related to geography, climate, and travel

  • Have physical examples of travel brochures to show students

  • Modify research requirements based on your students' English proficiency levels

  • Provide additional scaffolding for students who need extra support

UDL Application: 

  • Multiple means of representation: Visual resources, text, and optional audio resources

  • Multiple means of action and expression: Written, visual, and optional oral presentations

  • Multiple means of engagement: Choice of topics within parameters, collaborative work

This WebQuest addresses multiple Puerto Rico Core Standards for English as a Second Language, including:

  • Listening and Speaking: 7.LS.1.1, 7.LS.2.1, 7.LS.7.1

  • Computers with Internet access

  • Printer for final brochures

  • Sample travel brochures
